An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is an electrical switch that switches a load between two sources. It automatically transfers a power supply from its primary source to a backup source when it senses a failure or outage in the primary source.
When a failure occurs in a primary power system, the ATS invokes a standby power source, such as an uninterruptable power supply.
Manual Transfer Switch (MTS) breaker type
The Manual Transfer Switch (MTS) enables the owner to manually start-up a generator and reinstate power to a pre-designated, critical circuits when utility power is down. MTS is often suitable for commercial and residential lightning as well.
